A good athlete has strong character with great values, a relentless work ethic, and is viciously competitive. What better way to attack this thing and raise money with a group of these individuals.

YOU can support ALS research and Johnny’s fight by holding events under the Athletes vs. ALS banner:

Participate in the #ALScoldplungechallenge! Watch Johnny’s video, make one of your own, and challenge three of your friends (or sports teams) to do the same. Or donate $50 for ALS research at www.athletes-vs-als.org

Johnny Rodriguez with banner and childJohnny started playing lacrosse in the hotbed of Maryland, where he grew up. He was captain of the 2011 National Championship Team at Salisbury University where he also was named National Goalie of the Year.

After graduating, Johnny played professional lacrosse for 7 years before committing himself to a coaching career where he resurrected a struggling program to reach national recognition named in the top 25 during the 2022 and 2023 seasons. In September of 2023, he was inducted into the Salisbury University Hall of Fame, and in October of 2024 in to his high school sports Hall of Fame.

In October of 2023, Johnny was diagnosed with ALS, and created a platform to involve athletes in support of ALS.

ALS, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, is a progressive neurodegenerative fatal disease. It attacks cells in the brain and spinal cord that are needed to keep muscles moving, leading to muscle weakness and paralysis.
