Champion Insights

Champion Insights is an ambitious research initiative designed to uncover critical genetic and metabolic mechanisms that may explain the significantly higher incidence of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) among endurance athletes, military service members, and potentially other high-performing populations

Augie’s Quest committed $250,000 from funds raised through the fitness industry in July to this groundbreaking research initiative and are proud to collaborate in this study led by Answer ALS and the ALS Therapy Development Institute.

Champion Insights will tackle this challenge directly by employing remote-participation technology by transforming participants’ own environments into accessible, real-world research settings. The initiative will collect blood samples and clinical data directly from participants in their homes, breaking down logistical and geographical barriers and dramatically broadening research participation. Former NFL athlete Steve Gleason will be the initiative’s first participant—remotely providing a blood sample to officially launch Champion Insights.
