The movie follows Augie and Lynne Nieto in their fight to cure ALS. Theirs is a remarkable story, an unlikely and enduring love story, one that also is changing the way ALS treatments and research are funded and advanced, with exercise and fitness a key piece of the puzzle. Despite ALS, the couple is literally changing the course of this horrific disease. Together, Augie and Lynne have rallied the entire fitness industry, teaming with hundreds of popular brands, clubs and boutique gyms to join the fight — raising more than $70 million since establishing Augie’s Quest to Cure ALS. Funding that is making it possible for critical research via the ALS Therapy Development Institute, including work on a promising new drug, AT-1501, which began Phase 2 clinical trials in 2020. Augie and Lynne are transforming the ALS space – proving it is not an incurable disease; rather an underfunded one.

“Augie” was wildly successful in the 2017 Film Festival circuit, making appearances at Greenwich, Newport Beach, Austin, Hot Springs, and Heartland Film Festivals.  The film garnered awards at the Nashville and Boston Film Festivals.

Several private screenings have also been held for friends, donors, and Augie’s Quest partners in Denver, New York, Seattle, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Newton, PA.

Lynne and Augie Nieto have been approached multiple times about sharing their journey.  Not until they met the team from PCH films and CK&D Productions, did they say yes.

“Augie” was created by James Keach, the award-winning director of “Walk The Line,” and producer Eric Carlson. Keach’s most recent success was the award winning documentary, “Glen Campbell: I’ll Be Me,” which was nominated for an Academy Award and won three Grammy’s.  Keach also produced “Walk the Line,” for which the Producer’s Guild of America nominated him Motion Picture Producer of the Year.  “Walk the Line” was also nominated for several Academy and Golden Globe awards, winning the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture and garnering Reese Witherspoon her Academy Award for Best Actress.

“It’s a little scary sharing the intimate details of your life,” commented Augie.  “We immediately felt comfortable with James and Eric, and knew they would tell our story with humor, love, and authenticity.”
